Governance, management and sustainability

Score: 3

The provider had clear responsibilities, roles, systems of accountability and good governance. They used these to manage and deliver good quality, sustainable care, treatment and support. They acted on the best information about risk, performance and outcomes, and shared this securely with others when appropriate.

At our last assessment, we found the provider’s quality assurance systems were not always effective in identifying issues and driving improvements. We also found some incidents had not always been notified to CQC and other relevant stakeholders when required. At this assessment, we found the provider had made improvements to notifying CQC and other relevant stakeholders of incidents and these had been embedded into practice.

The provider now had effective systems to assess, monitor and improve the quality of the service. Audits and checks were completed regularly, and action was taken when issues were identified. Care plans and risk assessments were up to date and reflected people’s current needs.

Partnerships and communities

Score: 3

Improvements had been made in the provider’s approach to safeguarding, and incidents were now routinely recognised, reported and shared with the appropriate authorities when required. This helped to promote people’s safety and ensure concerns were addressed promptly.

Relatives told us they felt listened to and valued. They said managers responded to concerns and acted on suggestions to improve people’s care and support. This demonstrated a culture of openness and continuous learning.

The manager told us communication and collaboration across the organisation and integration with local services had improved. Managers shared learning from incidents, good practice and resources with one another to support consistent improvements in the quality and safety of care.
