Responsive
Responsive – this means we looked for evidence that the provider met people’s needs. The rating for the Responsive key question was previously Requires improvement. At this assessment the rating has remained Requires Improvement. However, we only assessed the quality statement; Person centred care, which we rated inadequate.
The service was in breach of legal regulation in relation to person centred care.
This service scored 54 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.
Person-centred Care
The provider did not make sure people were at the centre of their care and treatment choices and they did not work in partnership with people, to decide how to respond to any relevant changes in people’s needs.
At our last inspection we found that people did not receive person centred care. At this inspection, we continued to identify concerns. People’s care plans did not fully reflect their physical, mental, emotional and social needs. People’s individual communication needs were not fully documented within their care plans. When people became distressed, staff did not follow guidance, and guidance was not always in place or sufficiently detailed for them to follow. One person’s care plan had another person's initials in it. This had not been identified by staff, the provider or the NI.
Some people’s rooms were not person centred. Some rooms were bleak, without any indication of whose room it was. There was a lack of understanding from the provider why this would be beneficial or important to people. There was a lack of dementia friendly information or signage within the service.
