Updated 17 February 2025
Date of Assessment: 27 February 2025 to 21 March 2025. The Branches is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 24 people who have physical and mental health conditions. At the time of the inspection 15 people used the service.
We visited the service after receiving various concerns. We found 2 breaches of regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. This was in relation to medicines, infection control, safe environments and quality assurance systems.
The service had been through some management changes, including the appointment of a new manager. The management team had already identified some poor practices. Although work had started to improve, some of the issues we found had not been addressed.
There was enough staff to meet people’s needs the majority of the time, however, at busier times of the day, particularly in the morning, additional staff were required at intervals to support people out of bed. Staff were very kind and compassionate in the way they treated and cared for people.
There was no current registered manager at the service but arrangements to address this were taking place. The provider also needed to update their registration with the Care Quality Commission as changes had occurred which needed to be updated.
The service was reported by healthcare professionals as being a service providing very good quality care.
We have asked the provider for a detailed action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
