Requires improvement

Updated 12 August 2025

Date of assessment: 20 and 27 August 2025.

Belgravia Care Home is a service that can support up to 25 people who may be living with mental health challenges, dementia and/or a physical disability in 1 adapted building. At the time of the assessment 25 people were living at the service and 17 people were receiving support with personal care.

The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations in relation to premises and equipment, and good governance. We used this assessment to check improvements had been made in relation to premises and equipment and good governance. We found some improvements had been made in relation to premises and equipment and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations. The provider remained in breach of the regulation regarding good governance as further action was required to achieve compliance.

On the first day we found some areas of the home were unclean and had concerns staffing was insufficient to ensure people’s needs were consistently met in a prompt way. We discussed our concerns with the registered manager and immediate action was taken to improve the service.

Staff knew people well and were trained to meet their needs. Events and activities were planned, and people could participate in these if this was their wish. People were invited to give feedback on the service and changes were made when this was possible.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity and treated them respectfully. People were supported to maintain relationships with family and friends if they wished to do so. Staff were aware of their responsibilities to raise concerns with the safeguarding authorities if they felt people were at risk of harm or abuse and knew the different ways concerns could be raised.

Documentation and people’s feedback evidenced people were referred to external health professionals if needed. People’s nutritional needs were assessed and monitored. People were provided with a choice of meals, snacks and drinks were available if people wanted these.

In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.

People's experience of the service

Updated 12 August 2025

People spoke positively about staff at the service and said they were kind and caring. A person described staff as, “Lovely”. People were referred to health professionals. People told us they liked the food and there was a choice of meals. People could choose where they ate their meals, and they were supported by staff if they needed help. People said they received their medicines when they needed them. Surveys and meetings were in place to support people to give feedback on their care and activities were provided for people to participate in. People’s rooms were personalised, and we observed staff protecting people’s dignity and being caring and kind. However, our assessment found elements of safety and care did not meet the expected standards in some areas.
