The Lilacs Residential Home is a care home registered to provide personal care to up to 17 older people, some of whom maybe living with dementia. The service does not provide nursing care. There were 17 people using the service at the time of inspection. The accommodation is set over 3 floors with a lift between floors. There is also a large garden available for people to enjoy fresh air. The service is set in the community and near local facilities.
The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to safe care and treatment. Improvements were found at this inspection, and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation.
People received care that was person centred to their needs. There was a consistent team of staff who had received the appropriate training to support people. The appropriate employment checks were in place to ensure staff were suitable to work with vulnerable people. The registered manager provided supervision of staff and checked their competencies to fulfil their role.
People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests; the policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
Staff were responsive to people’s needs and worked well with other healthcare professionals when needed. Dietary and hydration needs were met and people told us they enjoyed the food at the service.
The registered manager had good oversight of the service and the quality assurance systems in place supported this.
