If you have had an assessment under our new approach, you must display your ratings online and at your physical premises.
We are developing a way to automatically create posters. In the meantime, you can use the templates on this page to create your own.

Download the template
Download the first template to make a poster for your overall and key question ratings. If you are making a poster for an NHS trust that has had an inspection looking at the well-led key question, use the ratings poster template for well-led inspections.
If you have been given ratings for your activities at core service level, you will also need to download the additional poster template.
Using the overall and well-led rating poster templates
Use the overall rating poster template if you have been given an overall rating.
Use the well-led rating poster template if you are making a poster for an NHS trust that has had an inspection looking at the well-led key question.
There are two main steps to editing the file to create your poster:
- editing four text fields
- selecting the correct overall and key question ratings.
Editing the text fields
There are four text fields to update in the file. You can edit these by clicking on the default text and changing it to the relevant names, dates or IDs:
- The ‘Rating date’ field:
This field currently has default text ofINSERT DATE HEREand appears at the top right of the poster. If you want to exactly match our other posters, we use the date formatD Month YYYY(e.g. 1 January 2024). This should be the date shown as the publication date of your report on our website. - The ‘Provider name’ field:
This field currently has default text ofINSERT PROVIDER NAME HEREand appears just below our logo at the top left of the poster. You do not need to use capital letters – our posters will show your provider and location names in the format you registered them. - The ‘Location name’ field:
This field currently has default text ofINSERT LOCATION NAME HEREand appears just below the provider name field. - The ‘Report link’ field:
This field currently has default text ofhttps://www.cqc.org.uk/location/LOCATIONIDHERE. You only need to edit the final part of the URL to include the location ID or your service.
Selecting the correct ratings
In order to make sure the poster shows the correct overall and key question ratings, you need to remove the images for the other ones.
For example, if you have an overall rating of Outstanding, you need to remove the Good, Requires improvement and Inadequate images in the Overall rating section.
You can do this by selecting each rating image and deleting them, or by turning off their visibility in the ‘Selection pane’. To do the latter:
- First, open the selection pane by going to the ‘Home’ menu then choosing ‘Arrange’ and then ‘Selection pane’.
- You will see a group of rating images for the overall ratings. You can hide each of the incorrect ratings by clicking the left-hand icon to the right of its name (which is a small circle with a semi-circle above it).
- Repeat that step for each of the five key questions (Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, Well-led).
Save and print the poster
Your overall ratings poster should now look complete. You can now save it and print it.
Using the activity rating poster template
You only need to use the second template if you have been given ratings for your activities at core service level.
You create your activity rating poster in a similar way to the overall rating poster. Firstly, edit the four text fields as before, and then update the overall and core service ratings.
Editing the text fields
Follow the same process as before to update the rating date, provider name, location name and report link fields.
Selecting the correct overall rating
As before, open the 'Overall ratings' folder in the layers panel and either delete the ratings that you were not awarded, or turn off their off their visibility.
Updating the core service ratings
Look in the selection pane. You will see 10 core service folders.
Start with the 'Core service 1' folder.
- Replace the 'Insert core service name here' text with the name of the first core service
- Go through the safe, effective, caring, responsive, well-led and overall folders and either delete the ratings that you were not awarded, or turn off their off their visibility.
Continue through the other folders, updating them with information about your other core service ratings.
Delete or turn off visibility for any unused rows.
If you have ratings for more than 10 core services, add these to an additional poster.
Save and print the poster
Your activity ratings poster should now look complete. You can now save it and print it.
