Ratings - Community-based mental health services for adults of working age
Our view of the service
We carried out an inspection of the trust’s community-based mental health services for adults of working age on 14th to 16th April 2026. The community-based mental health services for adults of working age form part of the trust’s mental health services in the community. This inspection was completed as part of CQC's Adult Community Mental Health Programme. The programme of inspections contributes to CQC's commitment to inspect the standard of care in community mental health services across the country. We undertook a short notice announced, comprehensive inspection of this service, looking at all 5 key questions to assess if services are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
The trust’s community-based mental health services for adults of working age comprises 11 teams.
During this inspection we:
- Visited 5 teams: Adult Community Mental Health teams at Saffron Ground, Holly Lodge, Centenary House and Oxford House; and the Psychosis: Prevention, Assessment and Treatment in Hertfordshire(PATH) and At Risk mental State (ARMS) team at Saffron Ground.
- Spoke with 44 staff of various grades and disciplines on site, and 26 as part of 2 focus groups.
- Spoke with 25 people who used services and 16 family members of people who used services.
- Reviewed 22 care records and 17 medicines records.
- Observed 8 interactions between staff and people who used services.
- Reviewed a range of data, policies and procedures.
At this inspection we rated the service as Good. We rated safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led as Good.
People's experience of this service
We spoke with 25 people using the service and 16 family members of people using the service. People using the service all spoke very positively about staff and how safe they felt receiving care from them. People described staff as ‘amazing’, ‘excellent’ and ‘exceptional’, and felt that staff were genuinely interested in them and wanted to help.
Family members also spoke highly of the service saying ‘I don’t know what we would do without them’ and how much improvement they had seen in their family members wellbeing.
