Our view of the service

We carried out an inspection of the Trust’s Forensic and Secure wards on 11th June 2026. We assessed 26 quality statements across Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well Led key questions.

The Trust has 1 forensic and secure ward based at George Mackenzie House in Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire.

The inspection team comprised of 2 CQC inspectors and 1 specialist advisor.

During the inspection we:

  • Reviewed the ward environment and clinic rooms.
  • Spoke with 7 staff members of various grades and roles.
  • Spoke with 5 patients.
  • Reviewed 6 care records and 10 medicines administration records for patients within the service.
  • Attended 1 handover meeting.
  • Reviewed a range of information including policies, meeting minutes and service data.

The service was last inspected in September 2018 when we rated the service as Good in all domains and Good overall.

At this inspection we rated this service as Requires Improvement overall. We rated the service as Requires Improvement in the safe and caring domains and Good in the effective, responsive and well led domains.
