Our view of the service

Fleetwood Hospital provides services to people living in Wyre, Fylde and the surrounding area. The Trust delivers a range of outpatient services from the hospital, including antenatal and physiotherapy services.

The outpatient department provides consultant-led and nurse-led clinics for adults, operating Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend clinics. Services delivered include rheumatology, dermatology, diabetes care, urology, general medicine, ear, nose and throat services, orthopaedics, sexual health, podiatry and orthoptics.

We rated outpatient services as good overall at this assessment.

At the previous inspection, the service was found to be in breach of regulations relating to good governance. At this assessment, we found that improvements had been made and the service was no longer in breach of regulations.
Patients’ needs were assessed, and care plans were in place to reflect individual requirements. Risks to patients were identified and appropriately managed. There were sufficient numbers of staff available to maintain people’s safety and meet their needs.

This meant that the service was providing care that was safe, effective and responsive to patients using the service.
