Our view of the service

Lincoln County Hospital is operated by United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The hospital serves the City of Lincoln and the North Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.

The trust provides acute hospital care for the people of Lincolnshire from their sites in Lincoln, Boston and Grantham and delivers services from community hospitals and centres in Louth, Gainsborough, Spalding, and Skegness.

On 16 October 2024, we carried out an unannounced assessment of one assessment service group provided by the trust at this location. This was an unannounced focused assessment of urgent and emergency care, in response to concerning information we had received about the care of patients in the department. At the time of our assessment the department was under adverse pressure.

On 16 July 2025, we carried out an unannounced follow up site visit to look at infection prevention and control only.
