Our view of the service

Hull Royal Infirmary provides a range of NHS hospital services. This assessment focused on urgent and emergency services, which were previously rated as inadequate.
The rating for urgent and emergency services has been combined with the ratings of other core services inspected previously. For a full overview of all other services provided at Hull Royal Infirmary, please refer to our earlier inspection reports.
Following this assessment, the overall rating for Hull Royal Infirmary has improved to Requires Improvement.

People's experience of this service

Patients and any family or carers with them were all positive about the staff treating them with warmth and kindness and providing effective care and treatment.

Patients said they appreciated that there were some long waits whilst in the department but all staff took time to speak with them and had all care and treatment plans explained to them.

Patients knew who to speak to with queries about their care or treatment. There was information available for patients, families, and carers on how to make a complaint.

People said they did not feel anxious about raising concerns.
