Our view of the service
Dates of assessment: 6 to 7 January and 27 to 28 January 2026. Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital provides a range of NHS hospital services. The rating of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital remains requires improvement.
This inspection was part of our winter pressures programme. We inspected Medical Care (including older people’s care) and Urgent and Emergency Care (UEC). We rated Medical Care good and Urgent and Emergency Care requires improvement. The ratings have been combined with the ratings of the other services from the last inspections. See our previous reports to get a full picture of all the other services at Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital.
In our last assessment of Medical Care (including older people’s care) in 2023, we found breaches of regulation relating to medicine management, infection prevention and control, the ward environment and staff training. At this assessment we found improvements and no breaches of regulation.
In our last assessment of Urgent and Emergency Care in 2023 we found breaches of regulation in safe care and treatment, dignity and respect and staffing. During this assessment, they remained in breach of these regulations.
