Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 7 October to 10 October 2025.
John Radcliffe Hospital provides a range of acute services, including major trauma, intensive care, cardiothoracic and maternity services.
We carried out a responsive assessment of the maternity services, including community, antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, due to an increased number of concerns and complaints being raised by members of the public. At this assessment the rating has improved to good.
However, we found breaches of regulation in safe care and treatment, premises and equipment, good governance and staffing.
The rating from the maternity service has been combined with the ratings of the other services from the last inspections. See our previous reports to get a full picture of all the other services at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
The rating of the John Radcliffe Hospital remains as requires improvement.
