Our view of the service

Queen's Hospital Burton is part of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust.  The hospital is the principal provider of acute hospital services for the residents of Burton upon Trent and surrounding areas including South Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire.

We carried out an unannounced on site assessment of critical care at Queen's Hospital Burton on 13 March 2025. 

Queen's Hospital Burton has two critical care areas 'Pod A' and 'Pod B' with 14 beds available for intensive care and high dependency patients. There are isolation rooms available  There is a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The unit has a critical care outreach team who provide support to deteriorating patients throughout the hospital.
