During a routine inspection

People we spoke with told us that they felt staff were attentive to their needs. One person told us that 'the quality of care is very good", while another told us 'it really is alright in here, everything is good'. We spoke to fourteen of thirty eight patients. We were told that staff were friendly and respectful. We observed staff talking to people in a kindly manner and treating people with dignity. We found that the service had listened to what people had told them about the quality of care and had improved the service where this was needed. We found that treating people with dignity and respect was one of the areas they had improved on.

We found that the service had a process in place to learn from complaints, comments and compliments. They also had checks in place to monitor the quality of services that people received.

During a routine inspection

People we spoke with told us they had varying experiences about the care they had received. Some people we spoke with were complimentary about staff and the work that they did but some felt staff were unhelpful and not responsive to their needs.

'I think that the Sister and the nurses have all been excellent and the treatment I have had here has been excellent. Sister and her staff have helped me immensely in my recovery'.

'One or two have been a little bit immature. I want to say to them that they are talking to an older person. Some of them need to smile'.
