People's experience of this service
People who used the surgical services at Mount Vernon Hospital had positive experiences. Patients consistently reported that staff were compassionate, respectful, and attentive to their individual needs. Care was person-centred, and patients felt involved in decisions about their treatment. Staff were observed to uphold dignity and promote independence, with clear communication and support tailored to cultural, social, and religious preferences.
Patients described feeling safe and well cared for throughout their surgical journey. The hospital promoted transparency and learning from incidents, and feedback mechanisms enabled patients to share their views and see improvements made in response. While the majority of feedback was positive, a few patients noted communication challenges, particularly in the pre-operative phase, and expressed a need for improved access to multilingual resources and consistent post-operative support. Nonetheless, the overall experience reflected a caring and responsive service that valued and acted on patient feedback.
