Our view of the service
Hillingdon Hospital is an acute NHS Hospital operated by Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The trust operates from Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon Hospital.
Hillingdon Hospital is an acute and specialist services provider in North West London, close to Heathrow Airport for which they are the nearest hospital for those receiving emergency treatment.
Date of assessment 22nd-23rd July.
We carried out a comprehensive assessment due to the age of the ratings on the 22 and 23 July 2024 for the Emergency Department (ED). We approached several stakeholders including the ICB to provide comments on the ED services provided at Hillingdon Hospital
We looked at the adult ED department, the paediatric ED department, the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC), and provisions for people with Mental Health (MH). We spoke to consultants, matrons, junior doctors, junior nurses, and Health Care Assistants (HCA’s) as well as service users.
We found several areas that needed to be improved.
We found a breach in the HSCA 2008 Regulated Activities in Regulation 12, Safe Care and Treatment and issued the provider with a Section 29A warning notice.
