Our view of the service

This assessment took place on 12 of August and the 18 of August 2026 and reviewed the quality and safety of care provided at the service. The provider had made improvements since the previous assessment, including addressing previous breaches of regulation relating to person centred care, dignity and respect, need for consent, nutrition and hydration, safe care and treatment and good governance. Some improvements to quality were still needed but there were no breaches of regulation. People, relatives and professionals spoke positively about the service and told us they felt safe, supported and cared for.

People benefited from a safe environment with effective safeguarding systems, good partnership working and a strong focus on learning from incidents and concerns. Staff understood people's individual needs and risks well and worked closely with healthcare professionals to support positive outcomes. The service demonstrated particular strengths in supporting people's health and wellbeing, with access to a wide range of healthcare professionals and rehabilitation services. People and relatives gave highly positive feedback about the quality of care, support and end-of-life care provided.

Staff treated people with kindness, dignity and compassion. We observed positive interactions throughout the assessment and found people were supported in a person-centred way. Activities, social engagement and opportunities to maintain independence were promoted through a variety of approaches, including dedicated activity staff and innovative initiatives such as Namaste care. Staff morale was positive, and both relatives and staff spoke highly of the registered manager and leadership team.

However, improvements were still required to ensure all systems operated consistently and effectively. We identified improvements were needed to ensure processes and recording for medicines management, monitoring of care governance oversight, the application of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and aspects of record keeping were consistent and identified where improvements could be made.

The provider responded positively to feedback throughout the assessment and took immediate action to address some concerns identified. Further work was needed to embed improvements and ensure oversight systems consistently identified and addressed issues before they affected the quality of care.

People's experience of this service

We spoke with people using the service, relatives, staff and professionals to understand their experiences of care. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive. People described the service as welcoming, caring and supportive and told us they felt safe, comfortable and well looked after. Relatives consistently praised the staff team and told us their family members had experienced improvements in their wellbeing, health and quality of life since moving into the service.

People and relatives told us staff were kind, patient and responsive. Observations during the assessment showed positive interactions between staff and people, with staff providing reassurance, emotional support and personalised care. People appeared relaxed in the presence of staff and spoke positively about the relationships they had built with those supporting them.

Relatives reported good communication from the service and said they were generally kept informed about changes in health, care needs and important events. Many spoke positively about the management team, describing them as approachable and supportive. Staff were also praised for creating a welcoming atmosphere for visitors and involving families in events and activities taking place within the home.

Feedback regarding food, activities and daily life was also positive. People told us they enjoyed the meals provided and appreciated the level of choice available. Relatives described a varied activity programme and highlighted opportunities for social engagement, community involvement and meaningful occupation. The activity team received particular praise for the positive impact they had on people's wellbeing.

People told us they felt safe living at the service and relatives consistently expressed confidence in the care provided. Observations indicated people were well presented and comfortable in their surroundings. The environment was clean, homely and well maintained, contributing to positive experiences for people living there.

A small number of relatives raised concerns regarding laundry arrangements and the sharing of personal toiletries, which had been discussed with the service and were being addressed. There were also some observations regarding the use of bedroom-door alarms which required further review to ensure arrangements remained proportionate and promoted people's rights, privacy and independence.
