Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 29 to 30 July 2025. Whipps Cross University Hospital provides a range of NHS hospital services. This assessment looked at diagnostic imaging services due to concerns regarding a poor culture. We rated this service as requires improvement. The rating from diagnostic imaging has been combined with ratings of the other services from the last inspections. See our previous reports to get a full picture of all other services at Whipps Cross University Hospital. The rating of Whipps Cross University Hospital remains requires improvement. In our assessment of diagnostic imaging services we found staff did not always complete safety checks, which increased the risk of errors and compromised patient safety. Governance systems were not always effective in identifying or addressing areas for improvement. Although, most staff told us they had seen improvements in the culture of the service, staff and teams did not always work well together to promote patient safety and manage risks in the care environment. However, staff were kind, caring and compassionate. The service planned care to meet the needs of people, took account of patients’ individual need.
