Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 2 April to 11 April 2025. The service provides support to younger and older adults in their own homes. They specialise in care for those people with complex physical health needs, dementia, a learning disability and autism. CQC only inspects where people receive the regulated activity personal care. At the time of this assessment, the service was providing personal care to 5 people.

This was the first assessment with this provider.We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found people received care and support in accordance with the principles of this guidance.

People and their relatives were involved in planning their care and inputting into reviews. People received support packages which were tailored to their individual support requirements.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Risks to people had been assessed and guidance was available for staff to mitigate the risk of harm.

Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment.

There were enough staff with the right skills, and experience, this included for people with clinical care needs. Leaders ensured staff received training and regular supervision to maintain high-quality care. Staff worked with other health and social care professionals involved in people’s care for the best outcomes.

People's experience of this service

People and their relatives were very positive about the quality of their care. They felt safe and were fully involved in planning their care and told us they could raise any concerns they had and would be listened to.

People received high quality care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals.

People and their relatives described how staff treated people kindly and preserved their privacy and dignity. People felt care was provided in the way they wanted. One person said, “Things are done the way I like it done, that is the best thing.”

People and their relatives were very complimentary about the staff and leaders of the service. Relatives said the registered manager was ‘very professional and approachable’. Comments included, “I would recommend them to anybody to be honest.” and “They send really nice staff, that's a big thing for someone who is vulnerable, for me to leave my relative and feel they will be nice to them is very important to me.”

People and their relatives were supported to have choice and control over the way staff provided care and support. One relative said, “The overall service is excellent, I'm very pleased with the way that they have involved the whole family in decisions.”
