Our view of the service

We undertook a follow-up inspection on 13 February 2026. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.

We had previously undertaken an announced inspection of Pennine Dental and Medical Care on 14 November 2025. During that inspection, we found that the registered provider was not providing safe, effective and well-led care and was in breach of regulations 12 (Safe care and treatment) and 17 (Good governance) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. Due to the seriousness of concerns identified, and our assessment that unless we took urgent enforcement action, a person would or may be exposed to risk of harm, we suspended the provider`s registration for a period of 3 months, effective from 20 November 2025. The follow up inspection on 13 February 2026 was undertaken to determine the extent to which there was sufficient evidence to demonstrate that the previously identified failings had been satisfactorily addressed.

During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had not improved and still did not met regulations.

The practice did not have effective systems to manage risks, and infection control procedures did not follow published guidance.

The practice did not have a sufficient number of suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

Recruitment procedures did not fully reflect current legislation and there was ineffective leadership and a lack of culture of continuous improvement.

Due to the focussed nature of this on-site visit, we did not gather sufficient evidence to report on the key questions of Caring and Responsive.

The practice is in the London Borough of Barnet and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 1 treatment room. During the inspection we spoke with 1 receptionist. The principal dentist, who was also the individual provider and the responsible person, was not available during the follow-up inspection, and we were therefore unable to speak with them.

The provider was not complying with regulations 12 (Safe care and treatment) and 17 (Good governance of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014. Full details of the regulations the provider was not meeting are within the inspection findings below.
