Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 22 April to 8 May 2026. EarlyBird Lifestyle Support Ltd is a home care provider supporting older people living with dementia, and people with a learning disability, autistic people and people with mental health needs. At the time of this assessment the service was supporting 4 people who received regulated care. This was the first assessment at this service.

We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. The provider was able to demonstrate they were meeting the principles of right support, right care, right culture.

The service demonstrated a strong and embedded learning culture that consistently drove improvement and enhanced outcomes for people. Staff promoted continuity and trust to support safe transitions. Safeguarding systems within the service were robust and consistently ensured people were kept safe. Risk assessment processes were effective. The provider detected and controlled potential risks in the care environment including an effective approach to infection prevention and control (IPC). The service demonstrated commitment to ensuring safe and effective staffing and safe medicines practices.

The service demonstrated an exceptionally person-centred and responsive approach to assessing needs and people consistently received care, treatment and support that was evidence-based and in line with good practice standards. The service demonstrated a strong culture of teamwork and collaboration and focussed on supporting people to live healthier lives. People were supported to achieve meaningful outcomes in their health, independence and wellbeing through proactive and responsive monitoring processes. These was an embedded culture of person-centred consent, where people were consistently placed at the heart of all care and treatment decisions.

The service demonstrated an embedded culture of kindness, compassion and respect through an exceptional commitment to recognising and respecting individuality. Care records demonstrated that people’s immediate needs were consistently identified and met by staff. The provider demonstrated an exceptional commitment to workforce wellbeing and enablement, creating a highly supportive and empowering environment for staff.

The service demonstrated a commitment to delivering person-centred care. Care provision maintained a strong focus on continuity, ensuring individuals experienced consistent and reliable support. The provider was exceptional at developing appropriate, accurate and up-to-date information in formats that were tailored to individual needs. The provider made sure that people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it and feedback mechanisms were well-established and effective.

Leaders at all levels were inclusive and had cultivated a highly supportive workplace culture where staff felt confident to raise ideas and share feedback. Governance processes were robust, well-embedded and effective in driving quality across the service. The service demonstrated exceptional partnership working to ensure people received timely, coordinated, and effective care. The provider showed a strong commitment to advancing both their own service and the wider care sector.

People's experience of this service

People experienced care and support that supported and met expectations, with strong leadership fostering a positive, inclusive environment where individuals felt supported to live fulfilling and meaningful lives. People and their relatives told us they felt safe, listened to, and actively involved in decisions about their care and support. Feedback gathered by provider supported this view and was used to help improve people’s experience and quality of care.

Staff went above and beyond to deliver person-centred care, taking time to build meaningful relationships and promote independence wherever possible. People reported being treated with kindness, compassion, and dignity at all times. People were well supported to achieve positive outcomes including increased independence, learning to drive, accessing their communities, rehabilitation following prolonged stay in a clinical institution, and reduced reliance on care and support.
