Our view of the service

Date of assessment 17 April 2026 to 8 May 2026.

We assessed the service as it had not yet been rated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). At the time of the assessment, there were 20 people receiving a regulated activity of personal care. The service provides support to children and young people who have a range of needs, including mental health needs, learning disabilities and autism.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, Right care, Right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

We identified concerns in relation to restrictive practices and unlawful restraint. Additionally, people’s assessments and care plans did not always demonstrate the use of restraint was the least restrictive option. People did not always have clear information in their care plans about how to support them with behaviours in a positive and proactive way.

However, people had information in their care plans about their likes and interests. There was a process in place to support people to safely transition between services. Staff told us they felt well supported and enjoyed working for the service. Staff worked well together as a team.

We identified breaches of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, safeguarding service users from abuse and good governance.

In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.

People's experience of this service

We received feedback from relatives of the children being supported by the service. Overall, feedback was positive.

One relative commented, “I am happy with the service. The two [staff] who came to our house have been excellent. I have no safeguarding concerns. Staff come and stay as they should.” Another relative said, “[My relative] is thriving, accessing opportunities in the community, is attending clubs and activities and there are times when I feel confident enough to take him out in the community alone. Bespoke Guardians’ support has been instrumental in achieving this. They have worked with me and my [family member] to ensure that we can work on challenging behaviours in a way that is successful.”

However, one relative commented, “I’m happy with the team that come out to support my [family member]. They are great. The administration around arranging these visits is not organised and I always have to chase who is supporting my [family member]. On multiple occasions [staff] have come when we are not expecting them or we have been away for the weekend.”
