Our view of the service
On Wednesday 20 May 2026 we carried out an inspection at DaVita (UK) Ltd- Boston inspecting the dialysis service. The service had 15 beds, including 2 side rooms for patients who may be immunocompromised at the unit. We went to all areas of the service including the service areas where the water plant was housed, clinical rooms and storage rooms. We spoke with 6 patients and 1 carer. We reviewed 6 sets of patient records. We spoke with 9 staff which included: nurses, senior leaders, dialysis assistants and administration staff.
We assessed all quality statements across the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led key questions and we have used these scores to give the rating.
People's experience of this service
We spoke with 6 patients and 1 carer. Most patients and the carer were positive about the staff treating them with kindness and providing effective care and treatment. However, some patients told us that staff did not always interact with them during treatment and that they did not always understand what staff were saying to them. Patients said they were involved in planning any alterations to their treatment needs. However, we noted that a patient forum meeting had been held in November 2025. Patients also said that they felt supported to care for themselves.
The organisation holds an annual patient satisfaction survey called Patient Reported Experience Measures (PREM’s). This is undertaken across all dialysis services in DaVita (UK)Limited. The patient survey of 2025 was completed by 67 patients using the Boston clinic and demonstrated a drop across all categories and overall worse scores than those of 2024.
