Equity in access
The provider made sure that people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it.
The provider had made improvements since our last inspection. As discussed at the time with the services former managers people now had sufficient opportunities to engage in meaningful activities that reflected their social interests. We saw the service had reopened the sensory room which had recently been redecorated and fitted with new sensory equipment. Managers and staff told us the new sensory room was regularly used by most people living in the care home and had a become a popular activity for some. The service also had some new vehicles and recruited more staff who could drive them, so people had more opportunities to participate in community-based social activities and events. A relative told us, “Since the new sensory room was opened and more staff recruited who can drive people are doing more things they enjoy inside and outside the home. People seem more relaxed and happier living at Rosebank Lodge these days.” A member of staff added, “People really enjoy going in the new sensory room and engaging in more community-based social activities which has made a huge difference to their wellbeing, as well as staffs to be honest.”
Equity in experiences and outcomes
We did not look at Equity in experiences and outcomes during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Responsive.
Planning for the future
People were supported to plan for important life changes, so they could have enough time to make informed decisions about their future, including at the end of their life.
The provider had made improvements since our last inspection. As discussed at the time with the service’s former managers people and their families were now supported to be involved in discussions and participate in decisions about their future care needs and end of life wishes. Peoples care records included a section where individuals end of life care and support needs and wishes were now recorded. Where people and their families did not want to discuss end of life care wishes this decision was recorded in a person’s care plan.
