Key findings
We carried out this assessment on 24 June 2026. This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.
People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment with appropriate legal authority. We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA within the service. We found that staff and management worked within the MCA. People were not subject to unlawful or excessive restrictions; they had choice, control and freedom over their lives. We saw communication was considered within mental capacity assessments to ensure people were able to fully participate in any decisions requiring support.
People were supported by enough staff who had the skills and knowledge to support them safely. Staff spoke positively about their induction, training and ongoing support they had received which enabled them to undertake their roles safely. Staff told us, “I believe the service is well organised and managed. There are clear procedures in place, and the management team communicates well and responds promptly when issues arise” and “I feel well supported by my line manager. They are approachable, available when needed, and provide guidance and feedback to help me carry out my role effectively.”
People’s desired outcomes were discussed at their initial assessment and then were regularly reviewed to ensure they received the care and treatment in a way that was best for them. Risk management was positive and inclusive and encouraged people to be aware of risks in the wider social context as well as individual risks.
There were effective systems in place to ensure a good quality of service was maintained and the management of the service was visible and approachable. Staff told us they were well supported and treated fairly; commenting, “I enjoy working with both the residents and my colleagues. We have a supportive team, good communication, and everyone works together to provide person-centred care. The atmosphere is positive and respectful”; “My manager is good. I always feel I can raise things and I feel confident to ask for support” and “We are always trying to learn and improve, and I am really happy here.”
Medicine administration was undertaken safely and recorded correctly. Any concerns were openly discussed and used as an opportunity to learn from. People and their relatives felt the support they received was timely and well managed.
People's experience of this service
People were supported by a staff team that knew them well, understood their needs and demonstrated respect for their preferences. People and their relatives told us, “[They] are very safe and their staff are well trained. The communication is excellent” and “They will do anything that we ask them, and nothing is too much trouble for them. I have [health condition] which flares up sometimes and they are always there for me. They are the best carers around.”
There was a collective focus from staff in recognising what people could do for themselves and supporting them to retain these skills. One relative told us, “They are very caring and they encourage her to do little things for herself. They are very respectful towards her and will always ensure she is warm enough after a shower and put a towel round her to preserve her dignity.”
People told us they felt the service was well managed and led and regularly saw the registered manager; commenting, “[Registered manager] is on top of everything all the time. I can call them any time of the day or night about anything at all. I would recommend to anyone” and “Management are very approachable and easy to get along with, and [Registered manager] is doing a very good job. I would recommend these to others, and nothing needs to be improved.”
People told us a culture had been facilitated within the service that enabled them to feel confident and comfortable to raise any concerns they had. People felt these would be taken seriously and they would be listened to. One person commented, “I have not had any concerns that I can recall but if I did I would just go to the manager and discuss it with her.”
People overwhelmingly told us how happy they were with the care and how respectful, kind and caring the staff were. We received positive comments which all highly recommended the service; saying, “I am very happy with them, they are my friends, all of them. They are absolutely superb. I love them all”, “They show respect for my home and will always do any little thing regarding housework that I ask of them” and “[Registered manager] is so good and always so helpful. I would recommend these to others and so would my family as they feel the same way as I do. We are very happy with them, and nothing needs improving. I know all the other residents are happy as well.”
