Our view of the service

Optimam Complex Care is a care at home service registered to provide personal and/or nursing care to people of all ages in their own homes. This was the first assessment carried out under our single assessment framework.

This assessment was announced. Assessment activity started on 09 June and ended on 01 August 2025. At the time of the assessment the service was providing care and support to 11 children.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

The service was led by a manager, with the support of 2 clinical leads. Care was provided by registered nurses or healthcare assistants, which was determined by the assessed needs of each child.

Relatives and staff offered positive feedback about their experiences of the service.

A learning culture was evident. The manager was pro-active in seeking feedback and making improvements. Quality checks, audits and surveys were used to provide effective oversight of the service.

Relatives knew how to give feedback and were confident the manager and staff took their views and opinions seriously, taking action where needed.

There were sufficient trained and knowledgeable members of staff employed at the service. Children were supported by a consistent team of staff which enabled positive relationships to build.

Children’s care plans reflected their needs, and regular reviews were conducted with the involvement of relatives, partner agencies and health care services. Care was centred around the child, and reflected their likes, dislikes and preferences alongside their assessed needs. Staff understood and managed risks related to the children’s care, which helped keep them safe.

The provider’s vision and values focused on providing care that was individually tailored and high quality, respecting individuality and promoting equality. Staff told us they enjoyed working for the service and felt well supported. We received positive feedback about the manager and senior staff.
