Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 12 August 2025 to 26 August 2025. Catherine House Surgery is located at New Walk, Totnes, TQ9 5WB and is a GP training practice.
Catherine House Surgery is a GP practice that delivers services to approximately 4,933 patients, under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Practice Profiles states that 96% of the practice population are white, 1% Asian, 1% Black, 1% mixed and 1% other. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 7th decile (1 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. The service has a higher-than-average population of people aged 60-69 years. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.
Since the last inspections in April and September 2022, the service had made improvements and is no longer in breach of Regulations of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014 – Regulation 12: Safe care and treatment and Regulation 17: Good governance.
