Our view of the service

Date of assessment:6 January 2026 to 7 January 2026.

Parkhill Support Services Brighton Road is a supported living service for people with learning disabilities and/or autistic people, people with physical disabilities and people with sensory impairments.

The service provides personal care on-site and in the wider community. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. At the time of the assessment site visit, there were 9 people receiving a regulated activity.

We visited 2 supported living schemes as part of our assessment. There were 4 people living in one scheme and 5 in the other at the time of our assessment.

The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations relating to safe care and treatment, fit and proper persons employed and good governance. At this assessment, we found the provider had made enough improvement and was no longer breaching legal regulations

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgments about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found the provider was meeting the principles of Right support, right care, right culture.

People’s relatives were involved in decisions about their care, could visit the home at any time they wished, and people were encouraged to maintain their relationships with family, friends and local community.

People were supported to maintain independence, choice and control and staff provided information people could understand. People were treated with kindness, compassion, and respect, and staff protected their privacy and dignity.

Staff responded to people in a timely way and were supported by the managers to carry out their roles. The management were visible, knowledgeable, and supportive, and ensured there were multiple opportunities and methods to support people and staff to provide feedback about the service.

Systems were not always in place to monitor the quality of the service. Overarching quality and safety systems were in place including audits, staff meetings and quality questionnaires. However, the provider’s audits had not been effective in identifying concerns in relation to managing medicines. We found the provider and registered manager to be very responsive to our feedback and took action quickly to address concerns.

People's experience of this service

We received positive feedback from relatives regarding their care and treatment. We observed people appeared to be relaxed and happy in the presence of staff and positive interaction and engagement took place.

Relatives and people told us they were happy with the staff and felt that the staff understood the support needs of the people using the service. The relatives we spoke with had no complaints about the service

A family member told us, “The organisation is well led, staff are approachable and the care is excellent.” Another relative said “Staff are always respectful to my [relative] who respond well to the care provided, I visit once a week and witness positive interactions between staff and residents."
