Our view of the service
We assessed Linwood House on 25th November and 26th November 2025 which included an out-of-hour visit on the night of the 26th November 2025.
Linwood House is a residential substance misuse service provided by Treatment Direct Limited. Linwood House is registered to provide residential alcohol and drug detoxification and rehabilitation to men and women over the age of 18. At the time of inspection, the service could accommodate 51 clients over two floors, but managers told us they were only using 30 of those beds due to refurbishment work taking place. There were 25 clients in treatment at the time of our assessment.
Linwood House accepts mainly privately funded clients for a medically monitored detoxification. This means they do not have medical staff on site and cannot accept clients with complex medical needs. Medical input is provided via video call with one of the provider’s prescribing doctors. The service is staffed by support workers and therapists who deliver a therapeutic programme of care. The service offers rehabilitation services and aftercare support. The service was registered by the Care Quality Commission to provide the following regulated activities:
• accommodation for persons who require treatment for substance misuse
• diagnostic and screening procedures
• treatment of disease, disorder, or injury
The service had a manager and a nominated individual.
The service provided safe care. The environment was clean and well maintained, we witnessed enough staff to keep clients safe and enable clients to access specialists to meet their needs.
Staff showed a good understanding of safeguarding and there was evidence of good, professional relationships with the local safeguarding team.
Staff completed thorough, individualised risk assessments with clients and updated these regularly as well as when risks changed. Managers ensured that staff received training, supervision and appraisals. Feedback from clients about the services provided was very positive. Clients told us that they felt safe and that staff were “amazing” and that “all staff were fantastic”.
