Workforce wellbeing and enablement

Score: 3

People received safe care as the provider recognised and met the wellbeing needs of staff. The registered manager valued the inclusion, wellbeing and contributions of staff. Staff had opportunities to feedback their concerns and any issues and informed us that they could do so freely. Staff received regular supervisions and benefited from these. One staff member said, “During supervision, we receive structured guidance on expectations and best practices, enhancing the quality of care we provide.”

Staff commended the leadership for their supportive approach, both professionally and personally. One staff member said, “The management is very supportive and relate very well with most carers. They are compassionate, they have had to accommodate my impromptu leave when (carer described personal incident).”

Staff were supported by a lone working policy that detailed health and safety considerations for those who must work on their own, usually for long periods, and as a result are exposed to increased risks to their personal safety.

Staff had access to support that recognised the diversity of a workforce with proactive and reactive measures. For example, some carers who attended religious festivals and events during certain months were supported with flexible schedules to accommodate these. Staff could have health insurance through the provider and could access support service such as counseling and oral health treatment if needed.
