Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 24 June to 4 July 2025. The service is a residential nursing home providing support and accommodation to adults of all ages.

The provider could not evidence they were meeting the requirements of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). Records relating to MCA and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) were not complete or up to date. Risk assessments and care plans did not always effectively address those known risks. Staff did not receive the supervision they needed to carry out their roles effectively. Medicines were not always managed safely.

People told us they felt safe living at the home. The home and equipment were very clean, and risks associated with infections were assessed and well managed.

People’s needs were assessed, and person-centred support plans and risk assessments were in place. These were not always sufficiently detailed or accurate. However, staff knew people well and were able to tell us about their support needs and knew what was important to them. Staff worked well together, and we observed staff respected each other and had a good rapport. People were supported to access a range of health care professionals and equipment.

People were respected as individuals. There were activities on offer each day and people told us they enjoyed these. There was an appropriate system in place to manage any complaints or concerns.

We found the provider open and transparent. They demonstrated a willingness and desire to improve the service.

At the last inspection the provider was in breach of the legal regulation in relation to premises and equipment. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation.

The provider was in breach of the legal regulations relating to people’s safe care and treatment relating to medicines and risk management, safeguarding/ MCA, supervision and governance.

In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.

We have also asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
