People had good outcomes because their needs are assessed. Their care, support and treatment reflected these needs and any protected equality characteristics. People were supported with their eating and drinking preferences.

Delivering evidence-based care and treatment

People were able to eat and drink in line with their cultural preferences and beliefs. People with complex needs received support to eat and drink in a way that met their personal preferences as far as possible. One person told us the staff are excellent, the food is excellent, “I was a bag of bones when I came here, about six stone but since I have been here, I have put on weight.”

Staff encouraged people to eat a healthy and varied diet to help them to stay at a healthy weight. Staff were aware of people who were at risk of malnutrition or who had a modified diet.

Care plans reflected people’s food and drink preferences and how they wished to be supported with a meal, for instance, how they wanted to be seated. resident's meetings were held in the service, giving people the opportunity to share their ideas and preferences on activities and the running of the service.
