Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 13 May to 28 May 2025. We visited the service unannounced on 13 May 2025 and announced on 14 May 2025.
The staff at Graysford Hall were exceptionally caring and kind. People felt valued and respected by staff who knew them well. Staff empowered people to make choices about their care and support and to maintain their independence. Staff had excellent relationships with the people they supported and wanted them to have the best quality of life possible. Feedback from people and relatives, and observations we made, provided many examples of staff going out of their way to provide prompt, compassionate and respectful care.
People were safe at the service. There were enough staff on duty to meet people’s needs. Staff had the knowledge and training they needed to support people safely. Staff knew how to minimise risk to people and prevent accidents and incidents. The premises were clean and well-maintained.
Staff worked closely and effectively with healthcare professionals to ensure people’s medical needs were met. People’s healthcare needs were monitored, and they had appointments with healthcare professionals including GPs, district nurses, speech and language therapists (SALT), dentists, opticians, and physiotherapists.
People and relatives were involved in planning and making shared decisions about people’s care and support. People had detailed care plans which staff followed to ensure people’s needs were met in the way they wanted. Staff understood people’s communication needs and shared information with them in accessible formats, for example, pictorial, in large print, and verbally.
The service had a positive, open, and welcoming culture which centred on the well-being of the people living there. Managers completed regular audits to ensure the service was running safely and effectively. Staff and managers ensured that people and relatives were involved in changes and improvements to the service.
