Our view of the service
We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 20 November 2025.
We found the practice had met all regulations.
The practice had systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control although there were areas where governance arrangements should be improved.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures on the whole reflected current legislation and staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
Purley Whites Dental Care is part of Gentle Dental Care Group, a dental group provider. The practice is in Purley and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.
The practice had 6 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 10 staff, of which there were 5 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist and 1 receptionist. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 3 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 1 dental hygienist and the receptionist.
People's experience of this service
Prior to the inspection we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 13 patients and saw further feedback the practice received through patient satisfaction surveys and online reviews. Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Comments included “I was nervous but they made the root canal so easy”, “professional and painless” and “treatment comfortable and results better than expected”.
Findings from patient feedback questionnaires demonstrated that people were positive about the standards of cleanliness. Patients responded positively that they were able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs, and they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs.
The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
