Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 24 June 2025 to 7 July 2025. Honeycomb Care is a care at home service providing support to adults of all ages, people living with dementia, mental health conditions physical disabilities, autistic people and people with a learning disability. We inspected this service following information of concern we received in relation to medicines. At this inspection, we only inspected areas of safe management of medicines. We found medicines were managed safely. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. Managers investigated medicine incidents thoroughly and implemented measures to reduce the risk of avoidable harm. The provider had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Professionals spoke positively of the registered manager and staff team and told us how they had been proactive in supporting people with very complex medical needs as well as people whose first language was not English in order for the person to understand the care given.

People's experience of this service

People were overwhelmingly positive about the quality of their care and safe administration of their medicines. They felt safe and were fully involved in planning their care and understood their rights. People said they received high quality care from knowledgeable staff who treated them as individuals. Relatives told us they were supported to understand medicines and to learn about alternative options they could discuss with their GP which would improve their quality of life. They told us staff were kind, reliable, on time and well trained. People and relatives could not speak highly enough of the registered manager. A relative said, “I would be stuck and lost without Honeycomb and the fact I know I can speak to them. They find out about medical needs and likes and dislikes and family.” People told us staff made sure medicines were administered sensitively, preserving their privacy and dignity. Some people could not directly or easily tell us about their experience. In these instances, we visited some people in their own homes to speak in person and spoke with their relatives to assess whether they received good care. This approach showed us people were included and listened to and staff consistently interacted positively with them.
