Governance, management and sustainability
Staff and leaders told us of the systems in place to manage risks for patients, staff, equipment and the premises.
At the inspection on 9 September 2026 we found the practice had made the following improvements to comply with the regulation:
Improvements had been made to the system for managing the risks associated with fire. A new fire risk assessment had been carried out and the actions had been completed or were in the process of being completed. Actions identified from the servicing of the fire alarm had been addressed. The emergency lighting system had been serviced and was deemed to be working correctly. Staff described the regular in house testing of the fire alarm system, emergency lighting system and firefighting equipment.
Improvements had been made to the system for managing the risks associated with sharp instruments. The sharps risk assessment had been updated to reflect procedures employed within the practice.
Improvements had been made to the system for ensuring equipment is maintained appropriately. We saw satisfactory evidence of pressure vessel testing of the compressor and autoclaves.
Improvements had been made to the system for managing the risks associated with using radiation. We saw evidence of critical examinations for the X-ray machines. In addition, we saw evidence of the radiation protection folder which contained the required documentation to demonstrate that the equipment was being used safely.
Improvements had been made to the system for managing the risks associated with hazardous substances. We were shown risk assessments for hazardous substances and these were stored centrally so all staff could access them.
Improvements had been made to the system for receiving and handling complaints. We discussed this process and we were shown examples of recent complaints which had been handled appropriately.
