Score: 3

People were treated as individuals and their views sought and listened to. People told us, “‘Staff have their jobs, they are very friendly and helpful and don’t intrude, they help. I can do what I want, sometimes we go out together, we are individuals enjoying the situation, we all get on well, it’s easy” and “They help me when I need it, with what I need them to do.” Relatives were all extremely happy with the home. All relatives loved the ‘family feel’ about the home, and one relative told us “you think of care home not personal, this so personal.” Another relative told us that finding a dog friendly home was extremely important to their loved one. The home enabled them to have their much loved dog with them at the home.

Staff promoted equality and diversity. The registered manager told us staff had received equality and diversity training, and they are ‘inclusive and don’t judge’. Feedback from people and relatives was gathered and quantified to improve the quality of the service provided.

The registered manager gave examples of how they have brought the community into the home so that people have the opportunity for new experiences and to achieve their chosen outcomes. This has included a wedding reenactment for 2 residents who previously lived at the home, and someone coming in to build a train track with a person who loved trains.
