Kindness, compassion and dignity
Staff treated patients with kindness, respect and compassion. We observed positive interactions between staff and patients both in person and on the telephone. Staff displayed an understanding of patients’ needs and showed warmth and compassion to patients.
Patient feedback provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Patient comments included that staff were welcoming and attentive, acted with integrity, and showed compassion.
Patients said staff were professional, courteous, and considerate.
Patients felt they were treated as individuals, and their personal and cultural needs were respected.
We were provided with a patient survey. Twenty-six patients responded to the July 2026 Friends and Family Test (FFT). Twenty-four patients recorded a “very good” grading, one recorded “good” and one “neither good nor poor”. Patients were invited to complete a survey following every appointment at the practice. Currently, the patient responses gave the practice a 98% satisfaction rate.
People received care from staff who were aware of their responsibility to respect people’s diversity and human rights, and of the importance of privacy and confidentiality. However, we noted that treatment room doors contained glass panels which staff told us were used to observe patients while X-rays were being taken. This arrangement did not adequately support patients' privacy and dignity while they were seated in the dental chair and receiving treatment.
Staff felt supported in their roles, and their wellbeing was supported. The practice provided access to an external Employee Assistance Programme and funded staff General Dental Council (GDC) registration fees and professional indemnity insurance. Registered dental nurses also had access to a funded online training platform to support the completion of their continuing professional development requirements.
