Equity in access
The service was exceptional at ensuring people could access the care, support and treatment they needed when they needed it. For example, 85% of patients described their experience of contacting their GP as good compared to the national result of 70%. Friends and Family data showed that over the last 12 months, an average of 97% of patients would recommend the practice to friends and family.
The service performed better than the national average in the results of the 2025 National GP Patient Survey. This showed people could access the service when they needed it in a way that suited their needs, such as by telephone, in person or through the service’s website. For example, 92% of respondents to the survey described their overall experience of this service was being good, compared to a national average of 75%.
The practice completed a Quality improvement (QI) project focused on digital inclusion to improve equitable access for patients at risk of digital exclusion. The team implemented targeted interventions including patient identification searches, communication campaigns and nine digital drop-in support sessions. This led to an increase in patients ordering repeat prescriptions online from 54% to 61%, equating to an additional 217 patients, including 51 from higher-risk groups. Patient feedback demonstrated improved confidence and engagement with 8 out of 10 respondents reporting the sessions as helpful. Overall, the project improved access to appointments and medications while maintaining alternative routes, supporting more equitable access to services.
Equity in experiences and outcomes
Staff and leaders actively listened to information about people who were most likely to experience inequality in experience or outcomes. They tailored their care, support and treatment in response to this.
Staff treated people equally and without discrimination. Leaders proactively sought ways to address any barriers to improving people’s experience and worked with local services to address any local health inequalities.
Staff followed processes to ensure people could register at the service, including those in vulnerable circumstances such as homeless people. Staff used systems to capture and review feedback from people who used the service, which included those who did not speak English or have access to the internet. This was reflected in the feedback shared from people who used the service, which was positive. For example, 97% of patients felt that they were involved as much as they wanted to be in decisions about their care and treatment during their last general practice appointment compared to the national average of 91%.
