Our view of the service
Date of the assessment: 12 to 13 August 2025.
Winterfell Care Home is a residential care home providing accommodation and personal care for up to 41 people. There were 32 people residing at the time of the assessment. The service supports older and younger adults living with dementia, mental health support needs, learning disabilities and people with physical disabilities.
At the last inspection (published 25 October 2022), Winterfell Care Home was rated ‘good’ overall, however they were rated requires improvement in safe and well-led. Due to the length of time it has been since some of the quality statements have been reviewed, a full comprehensive assessment has been completed.
This assessment indicated good practice in all areas, which demonstrates improvement in safe and well-led. The overall rating remains good.
People's experience of this service
People who used the service, and relatives, told us about how caring the staff team were. People told us they were happy living in the service.
People told us they had access to external health professionals when required. They did not have to wait long periods of time if they requested support.
People told us that they felt safe at this service. They told us that the staff were supportive and responsive. People told us staff understood them and treated them with respect. They felt listened to.
People felt able to complain and were confident action would be taken, and improvements would be made. People knew staff and leaders well and were complimentary about their approach.
Feedback from professionals was overall positive, noting that staff know the people who live at the service well, however found that there was a lack of activities when they visited.
