Inspection carried out on 3 December 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who used the service. Both spoke highly of the staff and the service they received. One person explained, �They are friendly and take on board what I say�. Both told us that they had been involved in planning their treatment.

We looked at records which showed that people were assessed when they first started to use the service. This involved looking at what was important to the person, their health needs and any social needs. We saw that people were involved in putting together their treatment plans with staff and that these were reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that they were effective. We saw that part of the assessment involved looking at any risks to the person or to others and how to reduce these risks.

We saw that the initial assessment included an assessment of any safeguarding risks to the person or to anyone they may have contact with. This included any children, adults who could be vulnerable due to age, illness or disability. It also included the risks to an unborn child if the person was pregnant.

One of the managers of the service explained that the Wellingborough service works with other agencies to address people�s full range of needs. The two people who used the service told us they had been referred to another local service for support with social needs.
