Good

30 July 2026

We looked for evidence the service involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment, we rated this key question as good. At this assessment, the rating remains the same.

This service scored 75 (out of 100) for this area. Find out what we look at when we assess this area and How we calculate these scores.

Kindness, compassion and dignity

Score: 3

The service always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.

The service had arrangements to promote people’s privacy. For example, In the waiting area for the dispensary there was a sign asking patients to wait 2 metres away to maintain privacy. We were told that a private room would be made available if necessary if a patient required more privacy. However, we received feedback from one patient that they had overheard confidential information in the waiting room. Leaders told us a General Data Protection Regulation(GDPR) training session for all staff was due to take place the following month and arrangements for privacy would be reviewed as part of this.

The service performed better than national averages in the results of the 2025 National GP Patient Survey. This showed people felt listened to and felt they were treated with kindness. For example, 91% of respondents to the survey felt the healthcare professional at their last appointment was good at treating them with care and concern, compared to a national average of 86%. This was mirrored overwhelmingly in feedback from people we spoke with during our assessment who described staff as showing “genuine kindness”, “considerate” and delivering “compassionate care.”

Staff that chaperoned had received training and were aware of their responsibilities in maintaining a person’s dignity and safety during an intimate examination.
