We looked for evidence service leadership, management and governance assured high-quality, person-centred care; supported learning and innovation; and promoted an open, fair culture.

At our last assessment, we rated this key question as requires improvement because there was a lack of governance regarding governance systems which had not effectively identified or monitored compliance with actions recommended in infection prevention and control audits conducted by the practice, or in external fire safety risk assessments. This meant the practice was in breach of Regulation 17: Good Governance. At this assessment, improvements had been made and the rating had changed to good. The practice was no longer in breach of Regulation 17.

Governance, management and sustainability

Score: 3

Leaders and staff had clear responsibilities, defined roles, effective systems of accountability, and good governance arrangements. These were used to manage and deliver good quality, sustainable care, treatment, and support. Leaders acted on information relating to risk, performance, and outcomes, including infection prevention and control (IPC), environmental risks, and medicines management. Information was shared securely with relevant parties when appropriate.

Concerns identified during the previous inspection regarding fire safety had been addressed. Improvements included the installation of new fire alarms, emergency lighting, and fire-resistant doors where required. Regular fire alarm checks were being carried out, and a contract was in place with a local provider to ensure fire safety equipment was appropriately maintained.

Clinic rooms had been refurbished and, where necessary, bespoke privacy screens had been installed. This improved patients' dignity and privacy while providing staff with adequate space to carry out examinations safely and effectively. Regular staff, management, clinical, and safeguarding meetings were taking place, with minutes maintained to provide a record of discussions and actions.
