Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 26 March 2026 to 2 April 2026.Tynemouth medical practice is a GP practice and delivers service to 9053 under a contract held with NHS England. Tynemouth Medical Practice is situated at Tynemouth Road Tottenham London N15 4RH in the London Borough of Haringey. This was a focused assessment. We undertook this assessment due to the length of time since our last assessment. We assessed 5 quality statements from key question Caring.

The National General Practice Profiles states the ethnic makeup of the service is approximately 40.8% White, 9.2% Asian, 29.5% Black, 8.3% Mixed and 12.2% other. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 2nd decile (2 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff respected their privacy and dignity. The National GP Patient Survey results reflected positive experiences, including confidence and trust in clinicians.

The service provided accessible information in a range of formats and used interpreter services when required. The service promoted equity in access, offering multiple ways to contact the practice and supporting people who faced barriers to care. Members of staff reported feeling supported and able to raise concerns without fear, and Freedom to Speak Up arrangements were in place.

People's experience of this service

People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results, including from the National GP Patient Survey and the NHS Friends and Family Test, showed people were satisfied with services. In the National GP Patient Survey, 76% of patients who responded described their overall experience as Good.

There was a Patient Participation Group (PPG) in place, which represented the views of people using the service. At the time of the inspection, the PPG had 3 active committee members, however, the wider PPG membership included a higher number of patients. The practice had taken steps to encourage wider participation, including sharing information through leaflets, word of mouth, and notices displayed on practice noticeboards.

Representatives from the PPG described how the service worked with the PPG to improve outcomes for people. The PPG told us that the relationship they had with the service was open and transparent. Representatives from the PPG told us that practice managers were responsive to feedback and had made positive changes. For example, practice consulted with the PPG about implementing an Artificial intelligence (AI) receptionist tool to improve operational efficiency and enhance patient satisfaction.
