Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 16 May 2025 to 19 May 2025.
Ordsall Health Surgery is a GP practice and delivers service to 11,757 patients under a contract held with NHS England. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is 2. Population areas are divided into 10 groups (or deciles), numbered 1 to 10. The lower the number of the population group (or decile), the more deprived the population, relative to the local area.
This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and, how this impacted service delivery.

The Ordsall Health Surgery had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks.
The facilities and equipment met the needs of people, were clean and well-maintained and risks were mitigated.
There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care.
Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes.
Systems in place ensured blood and test results were responded to and delays in treatment avoided or investigated, particularly in relation to pre and undiagnosed diabetes and cancer treatment.
We found the provider took steps to promote workforce well-being. Leaders ensured the workforce shared and understood the vision of the leaders.
There were examples of outreach work and partnership working with local communities.
There was a strong culture of checking and auditing how well the practice performed clinically, and administratively.
People's experience of this service
People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment from Ordsall Health Surgery.
Results from the National GP Patient Survey 2024 showed more patients were satisfied overall with their experiences at the practice when compared to national and local averages.
The NHS Friends and Family Tests dated March and April 2025 showed people overwhelmingly felt the service from Ordsall Health Surgery was very good and good.
The practice shared information about how people could give feedback to CQC and over 90 patients responded.
The majority of people described positive experiences and gave examples of staff being caring, responsive and knowledgeable.
People identified individual staff members, in various roles as being, excellent at their jobs, having behaved kindly towards them and as being diligent in carrying out their tasks.
A number of people described positive support when dealing with significant mental illness.
Overall feedback from people about their experience indicated a caring, helpful and listening culture was embedded within the Ordsall Health Surgery staff team.
Patients said they were looked-after well.
