Our view of the service
Peak Dales Medical Partnership is a GP practice and delivers services to 8,637 people under a contract held with NHS England. We carried out an assessment of this service due to its previous rating of requires improvement. The National General Practice Profiles states that the ethnic make-up of the practice area is 98.1% white, 1% mixed, 0.5% Asian, 0.2% black and other 0.2%. The age distribution of the practice population shows there is a higher number of older people registered with the practice and a lower number of working age and young people. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 9th decile (9 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report.
People's experience of this service
People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results from the National GP Patient Survey showed people were satisfied with services. Of the 7 indicators we looked at, 4 showed patient satisfaction with the service was comparable to the national averages. Three indicators showed patient satisfaction with the service was above the national average. For example, 98% of respondents stated that during their last appointment, the healthcare professional was very good or fairly good at listening to them. This was above the national average of 87%.
There was a patient participation group (PPG) who represented the views of people using the service. Feedback from representatives from the PPG was mixed. They told us that a recent PPG meeting had been held but prior to this they had not met since June 2024. They told us they felt the PPG was a tick box exercise and their opinions were not always listened to or acted on.
As part of this assessment, we asked the service to encourage people to give feedback on their care to the CQC by sharing a link on their website, texting people and displaying posters throughout the practice. However, we only received feedback from 2 people. Healthwatch shared with us 2 comments from people that received care and treatment at the practice. No trends were identified from the 4 comments we reviewed.
