Our view of the service
Clifton Park Hospital, part of Ramsay Health Care UK, is a modern independent healthcare facility located just outside York. Opened in 2006, the hospital provides services to privately insured patients, self-funding individuals, and NHS patients who exercise choice through the e-referral system. Care is offered to adults over 18 years, covering the full pathway from outpatient consultation and diagnostic imaging to surgical treatment and recovery.
The hospital is well-equipped with advanced medical technology, including a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner in the outpatient department. Facilities include 24 inpatient beds with amenities such as free Wi-Fi, digital TV, radio, and air conditioning. Surgical capacity comprises two theatres on the first floor and one on the ground floor, supported by a dedicated day care unit. The physiotherapy department features a modern gym, enhancing rehabilitation services.
In 2018, Clifton Park Hospital expanded its outpatient provision, adding 11 consulting rooms, two treatment rooms, x-ray facilities, and additional car parking to improve accessibility and patient experience. The hospital’s commitment to investment and modernization reflects its focus on high-quality care and patient comfort.
At the last Care Quality Commission (CQC) assessment on 1 February 2022, the hospital was rated good overall, indicating strong performance across key domains of care. At this assessment the rating remained good because it was safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led.
The main service was surgery. Where arrangements are the same in other services, we have reported findings in the surgery section.
