Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 5 August 2026. Lawrence Hill Health Centre is a GP practice and delivers services to approximately 12,000 people under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Practice Profiles states that 55% of patients registered at this service area are White, 24% are Black, 11% are Asian, 6% are mixed and 4% are other. Information published by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 2nd decile (2 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report. The service knew their population well and understood the barriers people who used the service may encounter when looking to access healthcare.
We have inspected the service on 5 previous occasions in 2014, 2015, 2019, 2022 and 2025. In 2019, the service was first rated requires improvement overall, but no breaches of regulations were identified. In 2022, the service was rated requires improvement due to breaches of Regulation 17 (good governance) and Regulation 19 (Fit and proper persons employed). In 2025, improvements had been made but the service remained rated requires improvement overall due to a breach of Regulation 17 (good governance).
The service had made improvements in processes to ensure the service was safe since the last inspection. However, we found some gaps in oversight remained to ensure systems and processes were being followed with regard to identifying learning from events and complaints and pre-employment checks were taking place in line with national legislation relating to good governance.
We have asked the service for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
