Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 25 September 2025 to 10 October 2025. Lawrence Hill Health Centre is a GP practice and delivers services to approximately 11,700 patients under a contract held with NHS England. The National General Practice Profiles states that 55.19% of patients registered at this practice are White, 24.05% are Black, 10.58% are Asian, 5.94% are mixed and 4.23% are other. Information published by Office for Health Improvement and Disparities shows that deprivation within the practice population group is in the 1st decile (1 of 10). The lower the decile, the more deprived the practice population is relative to others. This assessment considered the demographics of the people using the service, the context the service was working within and how this impacted service delivery. Where relevant, further commentary is provided in the quality statements section of this report. The service knew their patient population well and understood the barriers patients may encounter when looking to access healthcare.
Since the last inspection in August 2022, the practice had made improvements. Our clinical searches identified people were being reviewed and monitored appropriately. However, we found some shortfalls in the oversight of governance processes. Therefore, the service remains in breach of the regulation relating to good governance.
We have asked the service for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
People's experience of this service
Limited feedback from people was positive about the quality of their care and treatment however, people said they struggled to get a routine appointment. Recent results from the 2025 National GP Patient Survey were lower than the local and national averages. For example, 52% of responders said they had a good overall experience of contacting the practice compared with 70% of responders locally and nationally.
There was a patient participation meeting which was open to any patient to attend and share their views of the service.
We asked the practice to share a link with people so they could share their feedback with CQC, but we did not receive an increase in feedback.
